While Black Atlanta Pride, which launched in 1996, showed up and showed out in August, there’s even more to celebrate at the Atlanta Pride Festival and Parade this weekend.

Heralded as the largest free Pride festival in the United States, Atlanta Pride will mark its 55th year in 2025 by creating an unforgettable lineup of experiences.

The theme for this year’s festival, “Rooted in Resistance,” honors those that fought for LGBTQ rights in the past and shouts out those on the front lines continuing to fight for equality in the present.

“Our community’s journey has always been ‘Rooted in Resistance.’ From Stonewall to the present day, we have continually stood firm in the face of adversity, demanding our rights and celebrating our identities,” said Chris McCain, executive director of Atlanta Pride, on the organization’s website. “This theme is a call to remember our past, acknowledge our ongoing struggles, and empower every individual to contribute to a future where all LGBTQ+ people can thrive, free from fear and prejudice. We invite everyone to join us in embodying this spirit at this year’s Festival.”

This year’s festivities kick off with Mayor Andre Dickens annual reception Thursday night, where guests will gather for a benefit for his scholarship program.

Festival events at Piedmont Park range from yoga and drag story hour to marches and a concert featuring Flo Milli and Perfume Genius. Other notables scheduled to perform throughout the day include Bob the Drag Queen, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race season 8 and trans recording artist 2AM Ricky.

Premium passes that include meet-and-greet opportunities are also available.
