As the home of civil rights legends, business leaders, and cultural content creators, Atlanta — and Black women in our city — influence everything.

In celebration of Women’s History Month this March, there will be book signings, art exhibits, and spoken-word brunches so that Black women in the metro area can get their flowers.

Spelman College Presents: Beverly Guy-Sheftall, Ph.D., in Conversation with Keisha N. Blain

Discover the stories of fearless investigative journalist Ida B. Wells, the visionary president of the National Council of Negro Women Dorothy Height, and others in the American Civil Rights gallery.

The Legacy of Coretta Scott King
Time: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Location: The King Center, 449 Auburn Ave., Atlanta
Cost: Free

The King Center will highlight her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement and feature exhibits of other important figures like Rosa Parks.

Psychology of Black Womanhood Symposium

For their second annual symposium, the women’s college will focus on the book “The Psychology of Black Womanhood,” written by Spelman Associate Professor of Psychology and alumna Danielle Dickens, Ph.D., for a day of panel discussions, interactive sessions, networking and book signings.

METAVERSE 4: Women’s History Month RnB Live Music, Comedy & Spoken Word-Poetry Brunch

Celebrating Women of Color … DeKalb Women Speak: An Inclusive Sisterhood

The day’s lineup includes a wellness workshop, conversation with women mayors in DeKalb County over brunch, an empowerment workshop, and time to shop with local vendors in the onsite marketplace.

The Doux Presents ‘Our Kind of Women’ Photography Exhibit 
Celebrating Black Women over 40, this exhibit features portraits by photographer and visual storyteller Bessie Akuba Winn of local multigenerational influencers, personalities, and authors. Some of the featured participants include actress Terri J. Vaughn, Joi Gilliam, Rashan Ali, Dawn Montgomery, and Maya Smith.

Explore themes of freedom and liberation through artwork, archival photographs, texts, and more created by Atlanta University students and the Spelman Photography Program who had access to the Johnson Publishing Co. archive.

Letters to Ms. 1000: Words of Wisdom from African American Women Architects

Join Atlanta architects and contributing authors Shelly-Anne Tulia Scott and Jonné Smith as they discuss the book Letters to Ms. 1000: Words of Wisdom from African American Women Architects, Vol. 1, which features personal letters from Black women architects across the country. The goal behind Letters to Ms. 1000 is that by 2040, there will be 1,000 licensed Black women architects in the U.S.

Women of Action – A Celebration in Blue for the MS Community

Salute women with multiple sclerosis, which disproportionately affects Black women, and the advocates and medical professionals fighting to find a cure. Proceeds from the event support free programs and services for people living with MS and their families.

Ladies Night at the Atlanta Hawks

As the Hawks face off against the Sacramento Kings, the NBA will salute women making a difference on and off the court.
